Channelling their rich native song tradition into striking original songcraft, Newfoundland trio The Once’s 2018 album, Time Enough, enriches their earlier indie-folk sound with shades of classic pop and alternative rock. Still central, though, are their ravishing three-part harmonies and poetic lyrical economy, sparsely arrayed with acoustic and electric guitars, fiddle, mandolin and banjo.
Renowned multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and now singer-songwriter Mike Vass premières his semi-autobiographical song cycle – and forthcoming album - Save His Calm, a cathartic creative response to the aftermath of serious illness. Blending indie, folk, jazz and pop elements, the project also features Louis Abbott, Euan Burton, Philip Cardwell, Tom Gibbs, Su-a Lee and Fi Vass.
