Our August Release Update

Share Blog

It's been a whirlwind month here at Drygate, as we reopened our Brasserie and have been enjoying seeing our guests once more. Our venue and brewery staff have been putting in the hours to ensure we’re creating a safe and welcoming environment, with loads of great beer and food to enjoy.

In this blog, we’ll be taking a look at this month’s releases and looking ahead to other exciting concepts that we have in the pipeline.

Launched this month

Big Banana Feet7% Banana Milkshake IPA

Earlier this month, we released this beer in honour of Billy Connolly – someone who’s near and dear to our hearts. The Big Yin has brought the world decades of joy through his art, music and comedy.

Harking back to the famous shoes that Connolly wore on stage, we’ve created Big Banana Feet – a banana milkshake IPA. Complete with a linocut print of the titular footwear, this beer is our tribute to the peerless inspirational creative.

Hopped with Mosaic and packing an intense banana character, this milkshake IPA is larger than life. Only 100 bottles were available and you lot snapped them all up in just two days. We’ll have this beer on draft in our Brasserie, but it won’t be around for long!

Citronella Peaks3.9% Midgie-Repellent IPA

Is there anything more annoying than getting eaten alive by midgies? During the height of midgie season, you’ll find us clutching onto citronella candles as we swat away the evil beasties. Surely there has to be a better way?!

We decided to add some citronella into our favourite beer to enjoy in the Scottish outdoors, in an effort to stave off those annoying bites. We’ve taken our flagship IPA, Seven Peaks, and loaded it up with citronella-containing ingredients; American hops, lemongrass, and lemon peel. The result is refreshing, zesty and sessionable.

Enjoy drinking these beers out in nature, whether that’s on a camping holiday or just in your back garden. Put Citronella Peaks to the test next time you’re out in the great outdoors.

Spectrum #0774.7% Fruit Corner IPA

A Fruit Corner is the nostalgic breakfast of our childhoods; a perfect flavour combination of tangy yoghurt with sweet puree. We’ve taken this flavour profile as the inspiration for the first in our brewer-led Spectrum series this month.

This lactose-packed IPA features flavours of raspberry, strawberry, and mango. Kettle souring and bright, juicy hops deliver an amazing combination of sweet and sour. It’s perfect for the summer, and evokes that tangy sweetness that we know and love.

Spectrum #0785.8% Smoked Porter with Marshmallow

Sweet, toasty marshmallows pair perfectly with a rich smoky porter in this creation. Our brewers charred mallows and added them into the mix, to lend sweetness to the brew. The specialty malts brings real depth of flavour, adding hints of cherry and redcurrant, before the long, smoky finish.

Spectrum #0795.1% Grisette with Kombucha, Tea and Black Pepper

Our lead brewer Pete brought us a Scoby to give this beer a kick of kombucha. The somewhat-slimy culture was added into our Grisette, alongside tea, black pepper and foraged nettle tips.

The result is a herbal, dry, almost-savoury character in the beer. The kombucha adds a farmhouse-esque funk to the beer with a lemony undertone.

Dessert Menu: Tiramisu10% Milk Stout

This brand-new series takes inspiration from our favourite desserts. The first in the series is our take on Tiramisu. It’s a rich milk stout, packed with coffee, vanilla, lactose, and cocoa nibs. If you like Orinoco, then this stout will be right up your alley.

With an elevated ABV and kick of coffee, this beer is perfectly reminiscent of the boozy dessert. Layered with biscuit and creamy lactose, you’ll find all of the components of the dish that you know and love.

We wanted to get our followers on social media involved with the selection process for the next beer. Through a heated public vote, you chose Sticky Toffee Pudding and we’re already working on the recipe. We’re hoping to make a lush, rich beer crammed with brown sugar, dates, and roasted malts.

Double-Crossing the Rubicon11% Double West Coast IPA

In recent months, we’ve been experimenting with doubled-up versions of our core range beers. We’ve released Double Orinoco, Double Disco, and Fourteen Peaks; now it’s time for Crossing the Rubicon to be taken to the next level.

We’re taking our Weegie West Coast IPA up to 11% and stuffing it with more hop flavour. Bravo hops are added into the whirlpool, as well as in two rounds of dry hopping for an intense hop character. It’s bitter, resinous, and beautifully golden.

That’s all for now, but we’ll be back soon with more exciting beer news from our brewery. A massive thanks to everyone that’s supported us by buying from our shop, visiting our Brasserie and enjoying our beers.
