Scorched Earth

We have been proud to support good causes over the years, from Drumchapel Food Bank (via our Can for a Can initiative, and Beer Makes Glasgow), to Refuweegee, Social Bite, and Brewgooder, and opening our doors on Christmas day to feed the homeless. We believe beer can be a force for good; if you are in a privileged position, as we are, it's your responsibility to use that to help others.

We're also big advocates of science; brewing wouldn't exist in its modern form without the important work done by physicists, chemists and biologists.

So when leading climate scientists are telling us that Earth's most important home for biodiversity - and the biggest terrestrial carbon sink on the planet - is ablaze, it's time to stand up and do something to try and help.

Enter Scorched Earth; the beer that will plant ten thousand trees.

We’ve partnered with Offset Earth to support its mission of planting thousands of trees to help the world’s forests thrive and reduce carbon pollution. We’re donating all proceeds from the sale of Scorched Earth, which will directly finance 10,000 new trees. A forest born of beer.

Scorched Earth bottle

Scorched Earth is an extremely limited release, small batch brew, aged in an Islay whisky barrel for 18 months. Packed into 200 bottles, it has been hand-wrapped and individually numbered.

This 11.5% ABV imperial stout is loaded with pungent Islay whisky character. Black as pitch, it clings to the glass. Charred wood and smoky peat is counterbalanced by flavours of bittersweet dark chocolate and ripe red fruit. A smooth, warming and rounded finish is drawn out, like tendrils of oily smoke. Richly complex and utterly rewarding, this is one of the most intensely flavoured, challenging beers we've ever made.
